Phew. We're finally here at the much trailed Episode 19. It's safe to say Joel has not been looking forward to this one and it's the music of Richard Thompson - both solo and with his (now-ex) wife Linda.
Knowing this was to be a highly negative episode, Neil has called in back up from fellow podcaster Steve Sumner from the McCartney In Goal podcast. Does it pay off? You'll have to listen to find out. Caution - this episode contains one expletive from a 13 year old.
Joel gets a serious revenge in for this one too. It's genuinely horrible!

Episode 18 of our podcast and we are enjoying the music of the best band to emerge from Battle - Keane. Literally, they come from Battle in Sussex.
It's a great mix of hits and album tracks from their first 4 albums. Sadly the excellent Cause and Effect hadn't come out when this CD was made. Perhaps we should visit it as a bonus ep.
As ever, Joel's revenge concludes the music and it's.... different! Why is the boy obsessed with YouTubers?
Next episode is hinted at with the musical clue, as ever. It's the long trailled EPISODE 19.
One thing to mention, the sound recording of our conversation was extremely patchy so I hope this doesn't hamper your enjoyment of the podcast. Rest assured, we won't use the same method again! We ended up losing a few interesting diversions.

Don't stop me now! We're having a such a good time as we hit episode 17 and the music of Queen. This is something of hit-fuelled romp with a deep cut or three.
So, even if It's Late, settle down with The Invisible Man. Ignore the Bicycle Race and give us your attention - I Want It All.
Joel has his revenge to exact and given that he's decided the ones he really thinks I'll hate should be saved for the CDs he already dislikes, will this be a goody or a baddy?

We are back on track with our regular episodes and have reached Neil's favourite artist of all time - Paul McCartney.
This is a slightly longer episode that normal as Neil has a lot (some might say too much) to say. It's 44 minutes and 44 seconds long, and given that McCartney was one of the Fab 4 that's quite pleasing really!
This is a trawl through nearly 50 years of solo material - but no Wings as that will one day be dealt with separately.
Joel is his normal self - mixing some non-committal responses with a few positive comments.
There is a revenge and Joel seems to be running out of them (YAY!) so if there are any suggestions of "modern" artists we might get into and subject Neil to then please comment.

This time it's Back To Black from Amy Winehouse under the microscope. Neil loves this album but will Joel? Let's just say that this episode didn't go as planned. There is an argument about two female artists.

Episode 15 sees us deep dive into the career of Reginald Dwight - AKA Elton John.
This is a relatively hit free run through his career from the earliest songs through to the last album before he announced his retirement. Whilst it's a little heavier on his "classic" period it's a varied listen. There are upbeat tracks and one extremely downbeat one.
Joel enacts his revenge as ever with something that's pretty in keeping with the style of the episode.

In this episode we listen to the worlds finest proponents of 3 minute kitchen sink drama - Squeeze. Will it be Up The Junction all will it be All's Well? This episode is being released on Mothering Sunday, 2021 so the song Woman's World feels especially apposite.
Along the way Neil rambles about the time he saw Squeeze live twice in a month in the late 90's and Joel goes off on the weirdest explanation of how he dislikes songs that are played higher up the keyboard with the right hand (?!?). Honestly - it's really bizarre.
This is a mixed bag of hit singles and deep cuts from albums and B-sides. Not all land well with Joel.
Joel gets his revenge as usual (word to the wise the sound on it is horrid!) and it's a doozy!

Hey folks. Episode 13 sees our first thematic Daddy's Introduction To... compilation as we listen to movie songs. Not just any movie songs though - these are all inextricably linked to their parent film - in most cases because they were written for them. So - no Unchained Melody (Ghost) or In Dreams (Blue Velvet). Or indeed all those Beatles covers for I Am Sam.
This was a fun romp through many great songs - some oscar winning. Joel's revenge stays in the same theme too.
Recently, Neil completed the formal 60th CD in Joel's collection and we have run out of room in the official DIT storage system. However, there is plenty more to pull together - possible a second movie songs or a movie music. Otherwise, Generation Mix might end in 2 years time...

I'll be honest - I'd been dreading recording this episode. Joel has expressed his dislike of this CD several times even urging that we skip and move to the next one. But, I like rules and this was the 12th in the "Daddy's Introduction To..." series - so tackle it we must.
In the end, things may have gone better than we expected!
In this episode we are listening to tracks from Paul Heaton's 35 year career as a vocalist and songwriter with the Housemartins, the Beautiful South and latterly as a duo with Jacqui Abbott.
So, peek out from under the covers or the table, leave the DIY and enjoy (not quite) a happy hour as we dive into his back catalogue.
Joel, of course, has his revenge at the end.

After our last bonus episode, we find ourselves on much more familiar ground with the Swedish pop sensations Abba. There are tales of love and divorce - and that's just the band's personal history! A sprinkling of their major UK hits amongst some minor chart entries and deep cut album tracks make this CD, for Neil anyway, a thoroughly enjoyable one.
The Joel's revenge is another you tuber's song. What does Neil think this time.
